Quick checks
- Ask whether housing is private, shared, bunkhouse, RV space, or offsite.
- Confirm whether meals are included every day or only during working shifts.
- Compare the housing cost against pay, tips, and the length of the season.
- Check transportation, cell service, laundry, and internet before you accept.
Start with the housing type
'Housing provided' can mean many things. Some ranches offer a private room. Others use shared rooms, bunkhouses, RV spots, or nearby staff apartments.
Before you accept, ask who you will share with and how the bathrooms are set up. Ask if bedding is provided. Ask if housing covers training days and the end of the season.
Meals change what the job is worth
Room and board helps most when the meal plan is clear. Lower hourly pay can still work if housing and staff meals are included.
Ask if meals are served on days off. Ask if staff can use a kitchen and if the ranch can handle dietary needs. The answers change your weekly costs.
Ask practical questions about remote ranches
Many guest ranches are far from town on purpose. That changes what you need to bring and how you spend days off.
Ask if you need a car and how far it is to the nearest grocery store. Ask about laundry, cell service, and internet in staff housing.
